Hello, thank you for your time. I would like to file a racial and age discrimination suit against the Port of San Francisco for not allowing me to pass probation in 2019. During my probationary period as a senior clerk, I observed a (non-black male) senior employee pilfering parking passes. I observed one (Afro-Caribbean male supervisor), who was "worshipped" by the staff because of his looks, making homophobic comments and being cruel to the sea lions and homeless population at the worksite. My immediate supervisor constantly preached to me about Jesus as I was trying to tally up the receipts at the end of the day and she constantly commented on my hair, make up and wardrobe, once asking me, on my second day of employment, if I preferred men or women. This woman seemed so bothered by me that she stopped eating solid food in the workplace soon after I was hired. She told me she was pressed to meet her "goal weight." In June of 2019, this manager pushed me to the breaking point and I committed what I refer to as "The Great Stevie Wonder Rebellion," which is part of the title of my upcoming book. Streetwise Radio: Notes From the Great Stevie Wonder Rebellion By Shelah Moody Chapter One: Living for the City I worked on the newsletter and volunteered for outside projects, for instance taking photos at a tenant appreciation day event. In our staff meeting, the harbor master credited an East-Indian female intern for her time and effort, while ignoring mine. In my exit interview, the harbor master denied that I had trained the intern on the database, which was a lie, because I was the only one who worked on Sunday afternoons with her. A new intern told me that this was probably because employee had "pretty privilege," and looked at me and pursed his lips. This is just the tip of the iceberg. My union rep refused to help me; telling me it was my fault because the intern was faster than I was on data entry. She was 25 years my junior and the wife of the harbor master's friend. Also, because of their poor safety standards, one of our black female employees was nearly sexually assaulted in the restroom on the grounds. The harbor master accused me of collaborating with one of the Port's litigators when I accidentally opened a piece of mail during my training period. Also, defying the rule against using city owned facilities; they allowed a Christian revival (in Spanish) to be held in the conference room the summer I was dismissed.
